Sophia

Hello everyone! I am Sophia Ciriaco. I was born and raised in Columbus Ohio where I grew up as a competition dancer. I started dancing on my team at age 2 and I competed with them until I graduated high school! On this team I was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, contemporary and hip hop. I also trained separately in ballroom while in high school. Being on stage and performing became my favorite part of life and I feel so lucky that now I am able to share that experience with my students! Right before graduation I began teaching my own class and I continued to do so for three years until I moved to my college town full time. I moved to Kent Ohio to attend Kent State University to pursue my Bachelors Degree in Fashion and continue taking dance classes. I took pointe, ballet, tap and jazz classes throughout my four college years. 

Throughout my life, whether it was nannying, teaching dance, teaching swim classes or simply babysitting, I have always continued to keep children in my life. The endless bounds of their imagination and the ability to feel pure joy has always kept me waiting to surround myself with their sweet little minds. Not every child is so lucky to feel safe and comforted and dance class has always served as my safe space which is why I have strived to continue to keep dance in my life as much as possible! I love being a dance teacher, it gives me the chance to share my passion for dancing and create a new safe space for each of your little dancers that walk into my room. 

I have been so lucky to have found DANCE LA. Moving far away from home is never easy but the amazing staff and students here have allowed me to build a home so far far far away. Thank you for allowing me to dance with you!
